The 5 Supplements I Take Every Day
(and Why)
A few years ago, I stopped thinking about health as something I would react to later and started thinking about it as something I could invest in now.
That shift led me down a rabbit hole of bloodwork, screenings, nutrition, exercise, and supplements.
People often ask what I take every day.
While supplements aren’t a substitute for sleep, exercise, nutrition, or stress management, there are a handful that have earned a permanent place in my routine.
Here’s what’s currently in my daily stack:
Creatine
Most people associate creatine with bodybuilders.
I take it for a different reason.
Emerging research suggests creatine may support muscle strength, healthy aging, recovery, and even cognitive function.
As we age, maintaining muscle becomes increasingly important—not just for appearance, but for metabolism, balance, mobility, and independence.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D plays a role in bone health, immune function, and overall wellness.
Many adults are deficient without realizing it, especially those who spend most of their time indoors.
I monitor my levels through bloodwork and supplement accordingly.
Vitamin B12
B12 is essential for energy production, nervous system function, and healthy red blood cells.
Low levels can contribute to fatigue, brain fog, and other symptoms that are often dismissed as “getting older.”
Omega-3s
If I could choose only one supplement category to keep, omega-3s would be near the top of the list.
They support heart health, brain health, and healthy inflammation pathways.
Most of us simply don’t eat enough fatty fish to consistently meet optimal intake levels.
Magnesium
This one has become a favorite.
Magnesium is involved in hundreds of processes throughout the body, including muscle function, sleep, stress regulation, and energy production.
I actually use two forms:
• Magnesium glycinate for relaxation and sleep support.
• Magnesium L-threonate because it may cross the blood-brain barrier and support cognitive health.
The older I get, the less interested I am in chasing wellness trends.
I’m more interested in building a foundation.
Small habits. Repeated consistently.
No supplement will replace a healthy lifestyle.
But the right supplements, paired with movement, nutrition, sleep, and stress management, can be another tool in the longevity toolbox.
I’d love to know: What’s one supplement that has earned a permanent place in your routine?
See you next week.

Renée, I completely agree with your article. Ever since I completed my Function Health exam, the results gave me a much better understanding of what my body actually needed. Based on my bloodwork, my doctor recommended many of the same supplements you mentioned to help improve and reverse some of my less-than-optimal markers.
Now, two years later, I honestly feel like I'm 30 years old again. The difference in my energy, recovery, focus, and overall well-being has been incredible. It really shows how important it is to understand what works best for your individual body and how beneficial the right supplements can be when combined with a healthy lifestyle.
Thank you for sharing this article and helping others see the value of being proactive about their health.
